Working with Ubisoft
Ubisoft is a French video game publisher who are famous for game franchises such as Prince of Persia, Far Cry and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell.
For the launch of Assassin's Creed II, the follow up to their smash hit 2007 game Assassin's Creed, Ubisoft wanted to supplement the game experience with UPlay - a reward system that would allow players to unlock in-game content by completing challenges and tasks. The system could be accessed either from the web or directly in game on Xbox or Playstation. Gamers could earn points in one game and then either spend their Uplay points in the same game, or save up points to use in another game. Rewards for Assassin's Creed 2 included exclusive in-game content such as an Altair costume and access to the Auditore Family Crypt missions.
I was one of two developers who built the original Uplay Win platform that would allow users to sign up, view their challenges and unlock rewards.
