Working at LifeWorks
LifeWorks is a total well-being digital platform providing employee assistance, physical and mental well-being, perks and social features to thousands of employees for companies such as Amazon UK, Co-Op; RBCI; Starbucks and TD Bank.
My job was to ensure development across the teams is aligned with the needs from the business balancing product and client requirements, new feature requests and system stability; bringing our product from its startup foundations to an enterprise ready globally scalable solution.
I was responsible for a team of 110+ engineers (grown from 40) working across six feature teams that build and tested the API (NodeJS/Python REST and GraphQL endpoints - served as a mixture of around 300 AWS Lambda micro-services and Docker containers) that provided the data and logic for our native iOS, Android and React/Redux web application.
The company went through significant change whilst I was technical leader. LifeWorks was acquired by a Canadian company called Morneau Shepell, and I worked with my team to integrate our application in to other businesses and services. We also went through a period of technology transformation to align the technical teams and I was a champion in leading this initiative. Morneau Shepell later changed its name to LifeWorks, which felt like acknowledgement for all the hard work our team had produced in building the brand.
